Autism Treatment in Glenview
Finding Autism Treatment in Glenview
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Autism incidence in 2004 was 1 in 125, but by 2020, that incidence rose to 1 in 36. In response to this rise in data, the state of Illinois created the Illinois Autism Task Force (IATF) to help children get access to early support.
This task force was assigned to improve the range of autism treatment in Glenview and the surrounding areas, working with the Illinois Department of Human Services to provide better education and advocacy. Since 2004, the Illinois Autism Task Force has focused on early identification of children with indications of autism and early intervention therapies as young as 3 years old, to help children in the Glenview area and surrounding areas find access to early intervention services, including appropriate autism therapy.

Benefits of Early Autism Treatment
ABA therapy helps with a wide range of skills and behaviors, including skills development and behavior management.
ABA therapy helps individuals to build necessary skills for daily function, academic achievement, and social interactions.
Communication and Language
For starters, our autism treatment is designed to enhance verbal and nonverbal expression. Children learn how to better express their needs and their emotions using things like alternative communication systems, gestures, or words.
Daily Living
Skills to get through daily tasks are paramount. That’s why we teach essential self-help skills like getting dressed, personal hygiene, using the toilet, and eating. Within these skills are things like fine motor skills and gross motor skills, enabling children to hold pencils or play with balls, which go hand in hand with things like social skills and academic achievement.
Social Skills
Children also acquire basic social skills, learning how to understand social cues, take turns, and interact with others. As they grow, children and teens learn how to make friends and interact with their peers.
Academic Achievement
As young children participate in ABA therapy, it provides a chance to prepare for school, such as improving focus and memory, building the ability to follow directions, and learning how to participate in group activities.
ABA also helps to decrease harmful or disruptive behaviors by identifying their causes (functions) and teaching appropriate alternative responses.
Our goal is to help address issues like self-injury, running away, property destruction, tantrums, or other signs of aggression. ABA therapy helps to achieve this by using positive reinforcement to encourage children to follow a routine, complete essential tasks, and better regulate their emotions.
The more children are able to label things in their environment, including their emotions, and communicate these emotions, the better positioned they will be to manage their feelings and reduce problem behaviors.
Our Programs
Our Autism Treatment in Glenview
Owing to the need to provide early intervention therapies as soon as possible, Caper ABA Therapy provides families throughout Chicago with access to ABA therapy, one of the most common, evidence-based therapies for autism spectrum disorder.
- ABA Therapy: Our primary form of treatment is ABA therapy, which uses positive reinforcement to help children with autism spectrum disorder recognize and repeat desired behaviors.
- Speech Therapy: At our facility and through our at-home services, we also incorporate speech therapy as a central component to autism treatment, helping to address challenges with verbal, nonverbal, and social communication. The methods for speech therapy will vary from one child to another and might include speech-language Pathologists to help children improve their articulation, skill building, such as understanding body language, or the use of alternative communication methods like picture exchange communication systems (PECS) for children who have limited or no verbal skills.
- Occupational Therapy (OT): At Caper ABA Therapy, we also offer OT to focus on helping individuals develop skills for daily living and functional activities. This can extend to fine motor skills like buttoning a shirt or holding a pencil, gross motor skills like walking, and even sensory processing. The goal is to help your child improve their ability to fully participate in daily activities both at home and in school.
- Extra Curricular: Our extra-curricular therapy addresses challenges with gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and posture. This includes teen social groups to build socialization, culturally sensitive and socially accepting services, sports therapy for autism, and other extra-curricular therapy to complement things like occupational therapy, speech therapy, and ABA therapy. It helps individuals improve their physical strength and social skills, which can increase their participation in physical activities and improve social interactions and daily routines.
At Caper ABA Therapy, we provide ABA therapy for children in need and are expanding to include speech therapy, occupational therapy, and unique extracurriculars (sports, swimming) for special needs children.
Our goal is to meet families where they are, which is why we provide access to in-center therapy for children between 2 and 7 years of age, and out-of-center care for those up to age 21. We plan teen social groups to support families concerned about social development. We also offer culturally sensitive services, including Arabic language and mosque visits.
We know that paying for high-intensity ABA therapy might seem out of budget for many, which is why we provide financial assistance and grants so that care is available regardless of income. With our financial support and Medicaid navigation, our team aims to ensure accessibility.
