ABA Therapy in Crystal Lake, IL

At our facility we provide in-center services in Chicago a little over an hour away from Crystal Lake. With numerous options for transportation, taking advantage of therapy in our center means access to a specialized sensory gym and structured play-based activities. These activities and the natural environment in which they are taught help to build foundational skills for young children.

For those who are older, or families for whom in-center therapy might be out of reach, we provide in-home and community-based services that extend to children up to the age of 21. These programs are intended for those who are older or who might benefit more from natural daily therapy in their home.

Our programs have slightly different goals depending on the age of each child in need. 

Early Intervention Goals

For our younger children, between ages 2–7, our focus is on the building blocks of learning communication, living skills, play skills, and engagement. With our ABA therapy, children learn through a play-based, naturalistic approach.

Our team of qualified professionals can help children transition from non-verbal cues to using PECS systems, words, or signs to express their needs. All of this helps to reduce frustration for children. The children start to develop an ability to share focus with their caregivers by sharing things like toys or activities in our center or at home.

We work hard to promote foundational self care like getting dressed, going to the bathroom, and following other one step instructions. As children progress we also move from solitary play time to basic turn-taking or parallel play where appropriate.

Adolescent and Young Adult Goals 

As our learners grow, shifting toward ages 8–21, their needs often change, with a need for more community integration especially involving socialization and school. 

To that end, our team works hard to provide individualized services for every client, but with a focus on things like social reciprocity, executive function, emotional regulation, and independence. 

For adolescent and young adults starting or continuing with ABA therapy, our goals will include mastering conversation whether it’s understanding nonverbal body language or being able to take the perspective of another person. 

Our team might work with clients to improve their ability to plan their day, execute daily tasks, even complete multi-step chores or manage a school schedule. As part of that socialization and school experience, we work with children and young adults to identify personal triggers and help them establish personal coping mechanisms for things like sensory overload or stress in a public space.
